1 St James’s Street

No 1 St James’s Street, SW1

Built and designed by celebrated British architect Richard Norman Shaw between 1881-82, No 1. St James’s striking Queen Anne brickwork and portland stone facade originally housed four floors of residential accommodation, built specifically as Gentlemen pieds-á-terres.We transformed each floor to create four lateral apartments designed for modern day living and sympathetically enhancing the architecture of the existing building.

The penthouse was once a series of small rooms which we redesigned for 21st century living. In doing so we discovered a secret room in the turret. The crumbling timber conservatory leading to the roof tops was changed to a modern full height sliding opening with arguably with one of the best views of central London.
