Chelsea Property & Area
As part of the most affluent borough in the UK - the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea - this area has been fashionable ever since royalty moved into Kensington Palace in the late seventeenth century. A popular area for luxury London property, Chelsea combines cosmopolitan living with a distinctly village-like charm.
Local character and style
Chelsea features primarily residential properties, with the fashionable Kings Road running through its centre. It is a popular area for buy to let investment and comprises mostly period houses built around 1870-1890, although there is a reasonable mix of flats too. Apart from a few key addresses, the houses tend to be under 2,500 square feet.
These include Carlyle Square, Chelsea Square, Glebe Place, Cheyne Walk and Burton Court
Sloane Square is the hub of the area, buzzing with cafés, restaurants and shops which extend down the Kings Road. The Saatchi gallery and a number of smaller art galleries and antique shops can be found nearby and the area plays host to the glorious Chelsea Flower Show once a year. The river is to the south of Chelsea.
Key public transport
District and Circle line tube.
