10th July 2003. Interest rates cut

10th July. The bank of England cut rates from 3.75% to 3.5%. As predicted lenders have shown little desire to pass this latest cut on to their borrowers. For those who have been thinking of locking in their rates, now may be the time to consider doing so as lenders are clearly not going to trim their loan rates much further, even assuming further cuts in the base rate.

29th June 2003. Looking forward to happier times

On June 29th, the Sunday Times included an article that commented on a rise in job numbers in the City. Following a ruthless shake out in 2001/2002, job numbers are set to pick up with predictions that the City will be back to it's 2000 levels by 2007. With tentative talk of reasonable bonuses being due for 2003, these are pointers to the prime London market's recovery.

23rd June 2003. Achieving rents to confound the pessimists

Having not even finished snagging our most recent project at 62, Palace Court, we received an offer to rent it at £2,250 pw. A 6.3% return on the banks re-financed value post works. We have let our last three 2 bed flats for £875, £875 and £850 per week. Who says there aren't decent returns to be had in the prime rental market?

May 2003. Recognition for our top designer

Congratulations to our Senior Designer Annabella Nassetti who, in a recent feature article for House and Home Magazine, was named as one of the UK five hot tipped designers.

30th May 2003. It's not what you ask but what you get.

Recently an article stated that asking prices for property in central London had fallen by 2.4%. This is a typically meaningless statistic. In a market that is seeing very few transactions it is the price achieved that counts. We have currently offered £825,000 on a flat that had been on the market for £1,050,000 but is now quoting £995,000. We hope to agree at around £850,000 given that we are told £875,000 may do it !
